Orange You Glad?

Childhood puns, how clever they are.

This skirt is so floaty that I had several Marilyn moments on such a windy Wednesday. I wore my fairly ancient Naturalizer orange sandals, which were possibly my second Zappo's purchase. In lieu of carbon dating, that suggests they are at least eight years old. I remember that I ordered three pairs of orange sandals in giddy appreciation of free shipping and free returns.

Talbot's crinkled silk skirt, Jones New York top and the brass feather Kenneth Cole necklace. A different shoe might have given a better proportion with that long full skirt, but I'm still babying my feet.

Jacket and a Skirt, Rinse and Repeat

Bored now.

Monday:
Brown linen Talbot's jacket, chiffon Loft sleeveless top, ivory linen Talbot's skirt, red born flats. I do love that skirt. I bought it at the tail end of October last year, and this is the first time I've worn it. It has horizontal raw edge tucks, which are interesting in their own right, and also conceal the inevitable wrinkles. (Ben took this picture, which is why both my head AND my feet are visible. The limits of where you can put a tripod in my kitchen are apparent.)

Tuesday: the exciting PANTS variation!

Yellow Talbot's cardigan, white L & T tee, white RL jeans, cognac Chiang sandals, Alexander McQueen knockoff scarf. I adore the scarf; not just leopard spots but little skulls!

$29 via Shopstyleinch on eBay!
Wednesday: I didn't even bother photographing that ensemble. Brown denim jacket, green and brown floral skirt, green drape-neck tank, brown sandals. Perfectly presentable, just not very interesting.

Thursday:
Black linen Talbot's jacket, polka dot RL top, orange silk Talbot's skirt, black suede kitten heels.  This outfit is a spin on this orange and navy combo, which in turn is an interpretation/happy coincidence of this magazine cover:

Relatively few of my choices are influenced by library literature. Nonetheless, someday I will achieve this look, circa 1972:

Burnt Orange and Denim

This getup was confirmed/inspired by Sally at Already Pretty. I'd had this combination (roughly) in mind for a while, and seeing her post decided me.
The skirt is an airy crumpled silk with a really interesting texture, and boy howdy, it is really orange.

The boots are from Naturalizer, and have all kinds of interesting stuff going on up close: Studs! Suede! Leather!

I'm also very happy to be finally wearing this calf hair Nine West belt that I bought in January. The interior is bright gold, and I'm a little sad it isn't reversible.

And to celebrate the complete fabulosity of last week's weather, here is a closeup of Spring. I pretty much had my face in the tree to take the picture.
